The purpose of the Green Advisory Board is to assist city administration in identifying and creating policies and action plans that pertain to energy efficiency and help to mitigate the effects of climate change.

The members of this board are passionate in working towards educating the residents of Dania Beach in best practices for conserving and recycling.

LEED Gold Water Treatment Plant

The Dania Beach Nanofiltration Water Treatment Plant is the first LEED Gold Certified Water Plant in the world.  Dania Beach has earned its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification from the US Green Building Council (the nation’s lead governing body on sustainable design) in 2012.

The Dania Beach Paul DeMaio Branch Library is a modern 10,000 square foot building located next to Dania Beach City Hall.The library building achieved Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification from the United States Green Building Council. LEED certification requires that a building was designed and built using strategies aimed at achieving high performance in key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.

Hazardous Waste & Electronics

Dania Beach residents are encouraged to recycle their used electronic equipment and dispose of household hazardous waste in an environmentally safe manner. Thanks to a partnership between Broward County Waste and Recycling Services and Partner Cities.
Dania Beach residents can dispose of household hazardous waste, including paint, solvents, motor oil, pesticides, household chemicals, lawn and pool chemicals, mercury thermometers, propane tanks and fire extinguishers, and used electronics including televisions, computers, monitors, keyboards, printers, fax machines, cell phones and rechargeable batteries, safely—and for free.

Our ocean is not an ashtray

The City of Dania Beach is installing eight cigarette receptacles at the pier to significantly reduce litter from cigarette butts into our ocean.
Keep America Beautiful’s Cigarette Litter Prevention Program, the nation’s largest program aimed at eliminating cigarette litter, provided a grant to The Loggerhead Marine Life Center who came to install the receptacles at the Dania Beach Pier.
"We're excited to have installed these receptacles at the Dania Beach Fishing Pier," said Tommy Cutt, Loggerhead Marinelife Center's chief conservation officer. "Because of Keep America Beautiful's Cigarette Litter Prevention Program Grant, we can provide this practical solution to help reduce cigarette litter on local beaches. Read Full Article
 Electric Car Plugs at City Hall Parking Lot Dania Beach

Dania Beach electric car charging stations at City Hall.


Dania Beach has installed four electric car recharging stations at the City Hall parking garage in 2010.  Residents and visitors who are driving electric cars to help the environment are welcome to park and recharge at our facility. Just plug in your ride while visiting City Hall, the Dania Beach Library or walking downtown. The City installed charging stations in its public garage to promote and encourage the use of electric cars. The charging stations showcase the city’s sustainability efforts.
